Additional Information

Learning Bridges Program - Free Child Care

As the New York City Department of Education resumes in-person schooling this fall, most schools and early childhood programs will operate on a blended learning model. This means that each week, students will have some school days in person, and some school days remotely.  Learning Bridges is a new program that will provide free child care options for children from 3-K through 8th grade on days when they are scheduled for remote learning. If you are interested in the Learning Bridges program, please complete this survey at, or call 311.  Programs will become available on a rolling basis beginning at the start of school. Direct link to Survey.

  • The Learning Bridges programs will:

    • Be operated by community-based organizations and other partners

    • Provide opportunities for children to connect to their remote learning activities

    • Include time for art, recreation, and other age-appropriate activities

    • Follow the same rigorous health and safety precautions as schools.

Music Project OMP

Opportunity Music Project (OMP) provides 100% free and sliding scale music instruction to children and teens. Our graduates have gone on to attend Juilliard, Harvard, and have performed on the stages of Carnegie Hall.

In light of COVID-19, we would like to offer our programming more widely, especially for those NYC children who may be at home during the academic year with limited enrichment and social opportunities. We just launched the OMP Virtual Academy, so we now have capacity to offer our select programming to more students in need. We have 38 full scholarship spots currently available.

The program is open to New York City public school students, ages 4-18 and takes place October 1st, through June 30th. Specific instruments taught are violin, viola, cello and the double bass. Private lessons, masterclasses with Juilliard faculty, music theory, online concerts, and small group instruction are all important features of our programming. No prior training is required: we accept each level of experience. Deadline to register is August 30th. Instruments provided on a case by case basis as needed. Registration Link
