Our School

PS 116 is the little red schoolhouse in the heart of Bushwick where innovative minds are created.  June 25, 2002, the school was designated as a landmark site in Brooklyn.  PS 116K is one of the few New York city schools remaining from the 19th century.   

The mission of our school is to cultivate, nourish and enhance our student's self-image as lifelong learners and to provide them with challenging opportunities and experiences. In an effort to achieve academic success and excellence, we encourage creativity and provide our students with the ability to embrace and develop a strong sense of community, awareness, and civic responsibility.

Students will be supported to communicate orally and in writing via print/digital media and engage in rich conversations through the use of accountable talk.
